This is a victorious voice for vegetarians! I can’t say it better than the website itself, so here’s a few lines straight from a brand I am thrilled my sister – THANKS SO MUCH SARAH! – told me about, & I’ve enjoyed many of their tasty products, recently:
“Today, Quorn™ Foods is an independent company focused on creating the world’s leading meat-alternative business . . . Unlike other non-meat protein sources, such as soy and its derivatives, Quorn™ has an ability to replicate the taste and texture of meat exceptionally well . . . At Quorn, we’re passionate about providing meat-free products with no Genetically Modified Organisms . . . In a world where more and more people are looking to reduce their meat consumption, it’s important that meat substitutes provide a healthy, safe alternative. Unfortunately, many of the options for meat alternatives are made exclusively from genetically modified soy, 85% of which is genetically modified . . . Our range consists of a versatile selection of great tasting products which means you can have your favorite meals a lot healthier. ”

Happy About Life
What I have found is that the best time to write,
Is when your mind is clear in the middle of the night.
So I wrote this poem at four in the morning, the time when I write my best,
And the date was April 12, 2006, when I should have been at rest.
More specifically, the time I began writing was 4:14 on a Wednesday,
And I couldn’t sleep because I had lots of things to do and say:
I wrote 13 questions for my internship interview, to guide what the profile will be about,
And I opened my closet door to take a half-inch black three-ring binder out.
I can’t sleep, but it’s not insomnia, where sleep is an inability,
I just keep thinking about life, and I am happy.
My family’s fabulous, my friends are fantastic, God is in control,
I’m living the life God planned for me, which is lovely and whole.
Staying in bed seems such a waste when there’s something to do,
Even 4:14 in the morning is precious time, I think, don’t you?
My Fabulous Friend Lisa
Blissfully Bare with a good friend!
Hi, Friends! Got a tad over 15 minutes?
Watch my 8-year cancer story I filmed last July in Grand Rapids (I had no idea until seeing the video that one side effect of all my cancer treatment is my eyes continuously rolling up into my head) & see why I was Called to be Bald.
An OLD picture with fun & awesome old friends
Here’s a cool “getting older” themed piece I found online a while ago. I’m unaware of the author to give credit.
You know you’re getting older when…
It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
A true friend remembers your birthday but not your age.
You Know you’re Old when…
In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
You and your teeth don’t sleep together.
People call at 9 p.m. and ask, “Did I wake you?”
The clothes you’ve put away until they come back in style . . . come back in style.
There’s nothing left to learn the hard way.
Happy hour is a nap.
You realize that caution is the only thing you care to exercise.
Showering in the hospital while you’re attached to an intravenous line is a reality. Oftentimes, the nurse cannot unhook you from your IV because medicine is running through your IV line. However, once in a blue moon if you’re only getting saline solution pumped into your IV, the nurse can unhook you for 20 minutes to take a quick shower. Be very careful when showering while still attached to your IV tubing. Remember to:
□ Keep your IV pole as close to the shower as possible so that the IV tubing that’s attached to you has the most slack and therefore lets you move around more.
♪ Be very alert of every step you take in the shower to avoid stepping on the IV lines attached to you and ripping the IV out.
♀ Slowly take a shower when you’re showering attached to your IV line. Don’t rush around in the shower and increase the danger of slipping on an IV line and hurting yourself. It’s not a race. Better slow than sorry.
As a young girl, I clearly didn’t hide this craving!
Don’t ever be too embarrassed, while another patient is visiting in your room, to tell the person on the other end of the phone who’s coming to visit that night what you truly have a taste for. Luckily, my intuitive oldest sister read my mind and brought me the chow mein noodles I craved but was too embarrassed to admit in front of another patient. I was afraid he’d think chow mein noodles were a weird thing to eat.
My taste buds changed daily and dramatically during times when I received chemotherapy. A lot of days, nothing at all sounded appetizing as a metallic taste flooded my mouth; other days doctors were thrilled to see me eat M&Ms because they were so desperate for me to consume calories of any kind. One week I got raw potatoes from the hospital kitchen, which were then microwaved in the nutrition room on my hospital floor for me to eat with barbecue sauce and shredded cheese.
“Slices of bread & butter, a jar of cashews, a bowl of soup, a piece of pizza, a box of crackers . . . Unlike I did at the chow-mein-noodle-time: Speak NOW, or Forever Crave your Piece!
When I began this blog in May 2013, I figured I’d post Scripture & other God-related posts on Sundays.
What was I thinking? God shows His presence 24/7!
I read this passage, which provokes good thinking & as a result is worth sharing, yesterday.
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:9-11
